For many businesses, the cost per click for their relevant search terms has gotten too expensive to yield a realistic return on their investment. Unlike 10 years ago, when an advertiser could realistically pay 5-10 cents a click for their search terms, many verticals have seen their search terms run $10, $20 or even $50 a click or higher. This has made the costs of running a PPC campaign to become unrealistic relative to the margins available for many businesses.
